A beautiful print for quilting bought at California Craft many years ago.

I have wanted to quilt it long ago but needlework is hard for me as my

fingers get numb after holding a needle for too long.

Lately, after joining Shirai san's needlework group, needlework

becomes an interesting craft again.

Hope to finish this piece soon.

かぎ針編みの８０種のテクニックを、大きな図解でわかりやすく紹介。

糸とかぎ針の種類や、基本の編み方、編み目記号と編み方、松編み、

引き上げ編み目、リング編み、とじ・はぎ、拾い目のしかたなどを解説。

I learned crochet when I was in primary school.

At that time, crochet is only on table mat, shawl and cardigan.

Becos of that, I lost interest in crochet and left my needles and threads in the box.

Recently I picked up this craft again when I saw beautiful patterns in Japanese crochet books.

Japanese books do not have long essay form of instructions

but instead, all stitches are written in diagrams

I bought this book in Chinese version to learn the basic stitches and the signs.

It's easier to understand in Chinese than in Japanese

Moreover, the Chinese book is cheaper than the original Japanese book.

お花がいっぱい咲いています。

I took tole painting lesson years back from Mrs. Miyake.
This is one of my painting done in her class.
It was so long ago that I have forgotten the name of this technique.
Only acrylic paints were used throughout.

以前から作ってみたかった　
飾り物を作ってみました　
着物の生地に、綿をくるんで、蓮の実の穴に、
詰め込んで作るそうです。
端布を捨てなくて良かったわと
小さな布で作れました
沢山のちりめんの華やかさが
素敵でしょ

My Japanese friend brought some dried lotus pod to our craft session.
We have wanted to these lovely lotus pod decor since last month.
She gave me some Japanese chirimen cloth and I bought some also from Daiso.
For the smaller lotus pod, I put in some pompon.

最近針仕事にはまっているのすが、糸通しに苦労しています。
それで、糸通し器なるものをみつけて。
初めて真紀さんのうちでこの卓上タイプの糸通しを見せてくれました。
クロバーさんのデスクスレダーです。
細い針から太い針まで1つの差し込み口で糸通しがカンタン!
１つのボタンを押すだけで糸を通すことができます
ソーイングやパッチワークのほとんどのクロバーぬい針
(太さ0.51～0.89mmのダ円穴針)に糸通しができます。
糸の先なんかばさばさでも、目がしょぼしょぼして針穴が見えなくても、
スッキリ糸が通ります。
ちょっとお値段が高いので、私とマゲレトさんすぐご購入！
私はピンク、マゲレトさんのはライトグリーン。
日本で￥１７８５　USA : US$14.95 £11.80 　ペナンでRM５７で買いました
そして重宝していますよ。
初めて使った時の感動ったら。カルチャーショックうけましたよ。(大げさですかねー・笑)
ただ、針穴が楕円の針しか使えないのがちょっと残念かなぁ。
クロバーの針はだいたい使えるようですけどね。

This is a great product for us older stitchers who are challenged when threading needles.
Automatic needle threader.
I bought a pink one, my favorite color and Margaret bought light green..
Price in Japan ￥１７８５ and we got them here at RM57.
This tool is easy to use and it threads the needles with a simple push of a button.
The threader has a built in cutter.
Needles have never been so easy to thread!
I can thread my needle in seconds without even looking at the eye.
Just place the needle in the appropriate spot on this threader,
lay a piece of thread in the slit and press the lever - the needle is threaded.
Works well on most needles but not all.

今日から生地と針の手芸ブログに挑戦。うまくできるかな～。
教室に通い始めた。白井さんのパッチワークタイムにいつもお邪魔して、作品を拝見して参考にしています。たくさんの作品の出来あがるスピードはすごいです。手が何本あるの？
私は、配色に時間がかかって（図案や配色を考えるのが一番好きですが・・・）出来あがりもいまいちだったり・・・
同じ思いの人と知り合本当にうれしいです。素敵な作品楽しみにしています。

After a lapse of ~~~~years, I opened up my box with all my cotton materials to start my patchwork again. Joining a group of Japanese ladies who are all addicts of patchwork, it's so fun as they exchanged ideas, chit-chat, eating cookies, drink Japanese green tea and also on and off, latest updates on where to buy nice materials and tools.
This is my first piece of patchwork which I started using remnant from previous projects.
Will post the finished table mat once it's done...hopefully next week.
